Archives

The archives are a repository for documents and photographs relating to the history of Colorado County and its residents. Bill Stein was an historian, archivist and librarian who established the reputation of the archives and was a founder of the Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation to help fund the archives.

Marilyn & Roger Wade Archival Vault

In 2020 a major renovation of the archives was funded by Roger and Marilyn Wade that doubled its capacity.

Examples of collections include copies of all Colorado County newspapers going back to the 1850’s and over 7,000 historical photographs of historical events, family photos and a complete photographic inventory of all Columbus schools, churches and commercial establishments as of 2024.

There are also collections of Colorado County school yearbooks, county maps and numerous family histories.

We’re continually expanding our archival collection. If you have materials to contribute and help preserve history, we’d love to hear from you!
